Missouri Southern State University Health Sciences Building houses nursing, dental hygiene, emergency medical training, medical technology, radiologic technology and respiratory therapy. The building’s focus is on health care, but it also holds classes for kinesiology and psychology.
The real world can’t get much more real than the medical training equipment found on the Health Sciences Building’s third floor. It holds 28 hospital beds and can function as a real hospital.
Down on the first floor, the dental hygiene clinic has 22 stations that each have their own sinks, chairs and monitors. For anyone in the Joplin community, the dental clinic offers X-rays, oral cancer screenings, oral hygiene education, fluoride cleansing and, for children, sealants.
