The health service sector is the largest segment of the USA employment base and has continued to perform well despite the ongoing economic crisis.
As the “baby boomers” get older, the number of older adults who need services will increase. Health-care workers work in hospitals, nursing homes, doctors’ and dentists’ offices, medical laboratories, pharmacies, and in-home health care.
There are many service jobs in health care. They include home health aides, dental assistants, pharmacy assistants, physical therapy aides, nursing assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and doctors. There are also many medical support jobs for secretaries, receptionists, general office clerks.
Many of the occupations in this field do not require a four-year degree and still pay between $20.00 and almost $30.00 an hour. These include :
