Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is the ability to utilize and trouble shoot problems with equipment used in the administration of anesthesia. Ability to set priorities and accept instructions and direction from physicians or other clinical personnel. Demonstrate speed and timeliness in all duties, particularly in preparation for emergencies and trauma procedures. Must be able to communicate and work well with staff in and outside of the department.
The formal education and experience required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an anesthesia technician training program approved by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) or a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of work experience as an anesthesia technician. Certification as an Anesthesia Technician (AT) by the ASATT is preferred.

Reports to the Nurse Manager and is under the supervision of the anesthesiologist during a case/procedure. Provides anesthesia support services throughout the medical center in conjunction with surgical and interventional procedures requiring anesthesia. The technician functions as a member of the anesthesia and surgical team. Assists in case preparation, induction, extubation, technical and functional support, and between case turnover of rooms between procedures.
Two years Anesthesia experience in a hospital setting. *** *** *** High School/GED. One year training as technician. *** *** *** Knowledge of sterile techniques to provide sterile hands-on assistance. *** *** *** Familiar with the functioning and requirements of a surgical suite and the processes and requirements of anesthesia care. Demonstrates ability to utilize and maintain a wide variety of health care equipment. Demonstrates skill to respond quicky and efficiently in fast paced environment. Proficient in English.
