Medical Assistant – 480 Family Practice (Full Time – Days)

Sutter North Medical Foundation is a non-profit organization serving a variety of health care needs in the Yuba-Sutter community. Offering many different areas of expertise with medical specialist in virtually every area, Sutter North Medical Foundation affiliated with Sutter Health in 1993 and is currently comprised of 66 physicians. Sutter North Medical Foundation is the recipient of the Excellence Award for Patient Satisfaction from Sutter Health.
Performs clinical and clerical duties related to the provision of patient care. Functions in accordance with regional, SMF Policies and Procedures, and care center standards. Performs all clinical duties under the direction of a clinician.
As needed, works in any SMF care center to optimally support patient care and business needs.
Assists clinicians and patients to ensure efficient flow consistent with care center service standards.
Maintains patient medical records by accurately documenting actions and charting diagnostic test results.
Performs clerical duties related to patient scheduling, patient consent, insurance related documentation, clinician order processing, test results, and patient medical records.
Performs diagnostic tests, administers medications, and collects/prepares specimens as directed by written clinician orders.
Prepares patients for exams and procedures Properly cares for medical equipment and performs maintenance responsibilities.
Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others.
Maintains and processes patient medical files for daily clinic use. Files loose correspondence.
Registers and schedules appointments with referring physician offices, Rex Departments, case managers and patients by accurately entering all required demographic and clinical information into computer system and coordinating with relevant parties.
Processes patient financial information (obtains current insurance verification and authorization information, codes visits using ICD9 and CPT codes) using computer system, balances daily receipts, responds to patient billing questions related to billing from patients.
Answers phone calls professionally and directs calls appropriately. Providing accurate and complete information when needed.
Processes mail, sorts facsimile communications, types correspondence for physicians, delivers specimens, and runs errands for the unit.
Orders and maintains adequate stock of clinic supplies, office supplies, and equipment.
Maintains clean and organized work environment including nurses station, exam rooms, front desk, and file room. Applies disinfection and sterilization procedures as needed.
