The CHT credential is the ultimate level of recognition in the specialty of hand therapy today. The certification process requires that the therapist have a minimum of five years experience. In addition, advanced studies and extensive continuing medical education courses are necessary to be eligible to take the national certifying examination. Certification must be renewed every five years.
